The MK2 versions of the Triumph 2000/ 2500 were produced from 1969 until 1977. Initially the larger engine cars were available as 2500, 2500TC or P. I but the fuel injected model was replaced at the top of the range by the “S” with various refinements including 14” Stag alloys, anti-roll bar and a little more power from the mildly de-tuned TR6 engine thanks to twin “SU” carbs.
This car is a 1977 2500S automatic estate in Carmine red with a tan interior and power steering. It was first registered as EMG 2B in London in 1977. The mileage reading is 53, 000 and this is almost certainly correct as it has been little used for the last 20 years and an old MOT certificate from 1987 shows just 49, 000. The last owner carried out some restoration work a few years ago including new sills, completed to a high standard and the underside is in rock solid condition. The upper body is also very good and the paint finish is good but not perfect and there are various minor imperfections but crucially, no rot - please see the additional photos for more detail. The engine and gearbox are excellent, the straight six is smooth quiet and smoke free and the later model BW65 is working as it should. The under-bonnet presents well and the interior is in good condition although the carpet set is a little tired. We have just carried out various minor re-commissioning jobs and some test miles and this car is now ready for use.
This 2500S estate is a very rare sight in excellent order and it is also surprisingly pleasant to drive; much more like a modern car than many forty-two year old classics! There are some cosmetic improvements that could be carried out to take it to the next level but as the very best of these estates can change hands for £10k and more, this one is represents superb value...
