JAGUAR MK II 3. 8L 1965 ** AUSTRALIAN DELIVERED** SPECIAL ORDER with 9:1 compression ratio and close-ratio Moss gearbox (possibly the only special ordered close-ratio gearbox from factory in Australia and believed to be 1 OF ONLY 20 with this gearbox). AUSTRALIAN DELIVERED to the first owner as a company car and this being his second MK II 3. 8L. he was well acquainted with someone highly respected in Jaguar who was able to get this very special order in.
The body of this 3. 8L was restored in Cooma in the 1980s. Unfortunately, he passed away before the vehicle was completed, however, it was then completed and re-assembled in Canberra. The vehicle was then purchased by its new owner in 1998 and driven to Tamworth, where it resided until 2010 and then purchased and passed onto another owner who resided in Canberra where extensive mechanical restoration was undertaken. An abundance of receipts of work completed and will be given with the purchase of the vehicle, just the engine and running gear back then was $14, 500 plus! The owner at the time, it's owner said it was the best bodied MK II he has seen and ran as well as it would’ve when it came new from the dealership. The vehicle was then sold to a local artist in Castlemaine in 2015 who used the car as a daily driver around Castlemaine until his unfortunate sudden death. VERY EXTENSIVE work was completed to the vehicle under that ownership, it’s believed that the vehicle was restored TWICE with original Jaguar parts (thousands of dollars) and including brand new wire wheels. His wife then continued owning the vehicle and sparingly drove it until she realised it was time to let the vehicle go. The previous owner from Canberra bought the vehicle from her in August 2016 after being referred to the vehicle through some members of a Jaguar Club. It's recent previous owner purchased the vehicle after viewing it and seeing the PURE EXCELLENCE of the restoration and the virtually immaculate condition it was kept in. The previous owner drove the car straight from Castlemaine to Canberra.
