Very rare - Top spec Highline model
Introduction
He we have a stunning example of the rare M635i Highline, with 150, 000 Miles and full service history. This top of the range, BMW Motorsport developed 6 Series looks absolutely superb, with its deep shine, Alpine White paintwork. The M635CSi (or M6 as its know in other parts of the world) is BMW’s Motorsport department’s development of the already excellent E24 6 Series. Using the fantastic straight six engine (M88), which is also fitted to the E28 M5. A masterpiece in engineering, producing 286 BHP, the 3. 5 litre M88 was BMW’s first 4 valve per cylinder production engine, it benefited from six individual throttle bodies, technology straight from the race track. Many further enhancements were carried out by BMW M Division including uprated suspension / unique manual gearbox / brakes / limited slipp diff etc.
This M635 is 1 of 524 RHD M635 CSi’s produced, with much fewer than that believed to be still on the road. It was first registered in August 1988. Its one of only 102, top of the range, RHD Highline models, with the upgraded body styling and very luxurious, fully extended leather interiors. These rarely come up for sale, this car has all the nice upgrades.
This car was part of a collection including another M635, E30 325 Sport, 840 Sport etc. My client purchased this car in early 2018, spent around £18, 000 on a restoration and 2 services, but due to a house move, is now with us for sale.
Bodywork / Interior / Wheels etc
Finished in Alpine White, a rare colour that really suits this ‘shark nose’. Following a recent restoration, the paintwork looks stunning. Obviously no rust, all solid arches / wings / sills etc.
The Light Grey sports leather interior is in superb condition. As you can see, the extended leather interior is lovely and soft and well preserved. The quality leather is everywhere, they don’t make interiors of this quality now.
The wheels fitted are not the original wheels, as these featured Metric tyres, which are extremely expensive and hard to obtain. These are genuine BMW wheels that have a very similar look and allow you to fit modern tyres to the car. A very common and sensible upgrade.
Engine / Gearbox
The M635CSi comes with the M88 straight six engine. The engine sounds fantastic and is one of BMW’s best engine notes when pushed. Looking at the history, the important timing chain was replaced at 133, 000 miles along with a top end engine rebuild, new radiator etc.
The Getrag 5 speed manual gearbox fitted to all M635CS’s, is an excellent gearbox. The box on this car feels just right, nice precise gear changes.
History
This example comes with full service history. We have all the original manuals, the original, fully stamped service book, a folder of all old MOTs, a folder of service records etc. Along with this is a full invoice and picture record of the restoration.

Summary
The M635CSi is one of the best classic cars you could own. This is a rare chance to purchase one of the top of the range, Highline cars. HPI clear. Its just been serviced at 150, 201 miles and is MOT’d until 18th June 2020, with no advisories on last MOT.
