The Mercedes-Benz R129 SL is a roadster which was produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1989 until 2001. The R129 replaced the R107 in 1989. The R129 was offered as a two door, two seat roadster with an automated fabric convertible top, automated tonneau cover and a manually detachable hardtop that could be fitted over the stored fabric convertible top and tonneau. The new R129 design received a state of the art adjustable sport luxury suspension and an all-new chassis. Twin A-arm front and fully independent multi link rear suspension, four wheel disc brakes, and a complete unibody chassis defined the new SL. To mark the start of the R129, Mercedes brought back the 300SL. Buyers could also opt for the 500SL, with a 5. 0 liter overhead cam V8 engine at 322 hp, with a four speed automatic transmission. 1991 Mercedes 500SL. This car had been with the previous owner for many years. Has a sales agreement form showing that the vehicle was purchased for just over $77, 000 in 1993. It has the original engine and automatic transmission. Car is mechanically sound. It only has 57, 636 original miles. We have done a few fixes to the car.
