After waiting patiently and due to the prospective buyer not coming up with the balance of the deposit paid I am having to reluctantly relist my car.

We have for sale here my B reg 1984 targa red MG Montego Efi
First registered on the 17th August 1984 with 3 previous owners
Currently just over 83, 000 miles, this may rise, with new MOT (no advisories), the car is currently sorn but I will tax it to enjoy the last of summer if it’s not sold.
Extremely rare MG Montego Efi with factory fitted driver information centre, (digital talking dash) in a lovely shade of gleaming targa red paintwork complemented by the MG Marle Deco interior.
Ground breaking in 1984 the driver information centre was very cutting edge and very Knight Rider. After 36 years this digital dash is still all working correctly including Nicolette Mckenzie, the original ladies voice, sounding loud and clear through the driver’s side front speaker as per original specification, but you can turn her down or off if needed via the display.
The engine is quiet and smooth, indeed the car effortlessly keeps up with modern traffic and is a joy to drive. You would not know this car is 36 years old.
I bought the car in 2012 and completed the restoration earlier in the year but as I have many other cars this would not be used to its potential so will be sold for someone else to enjoy and bring back many memories.
The car has had many NOS parts used in its restoration including, a complete respray, bootlid, bonnet, servo, brakes, suspension bushes, headlights, indicators, springs, dampers, clutch, gearbox seals, cylinder head, radiator, seat belts, 5 powder coated alloy wheels, 5 brand new tyres, stainless steel exhaust, recovered headlining, new speakers all round and much much more, the very quiet engine has also been re-furbished and will effortlessly run on unleaded petrol.
The alloy wheels are from a later 1988 MG Montego model as the original tyres are metric and no longer available but 5 of the original metric alloy wheels can go with the car if needed. I have also replaced the radio cassette with a later model but the original 1984 Motorola model will be included in the sale.

MG Montegos with this type of dash were only made in a short space of time in 1984 and many people remember these cars with great fondness, but when did you last see or drive one? You won’t have as there are only 5 MG Montego Efi’s known to the Maestro/ Montego Owners club to be in existence with this original type of factory fitted digital dash and only 2 roadworthy. A Zircon blue one that I sold 5 years ago and this one. This is the ONLY digital dash car in targa red on the road. This colour of car is also the ONLY one used in the 1984 MG Montego Efi handbooks and ‘Driving is believing, the car that puts the driver first’ promotions. The ‘Driving is believing’ promotion has a 2 page spread of a targa red MG Montego exactly the same as this car, so this car is a wonderful piece of MG history we sadly no longer produce.
When I use this car I have many coming up to me and asking, beautiful car, is this a talking dash? Brilliant, haven’t seen one in years, wanting to hear the car talk and telling me memories of their own Montegos/ Maestros from years past.
