Widely regarded as the car that saved one of the world’s favourite marques, the success of the DB7 was pivotal for Aston Martin at the time of its launch in 1994. Having achieved an instant and enthusiastic following from both the motoring press as well as traditional enthusiasts, the DB7 received a significant update in 2000 with the introduction of Aston Martins hand-built 6Ltr V12 powerplant. Renamed ‘DB7 Vantage’ to indicate the ultimate performance variant, these models continue to gain in popularity and value as exceptional examples like this become more difficult to find.
Finished in near perfect Mendip blue paintwork with parchment leather interior with royal blue piping, seat backs and navy blue wool carpets. The list of factory fitted options includes a large bore exhaust, leather tonneau cover and wind-deflector, body-coloured front valence and uprated radio with 6 disc CD changer and sat-nav - although no longer cutting edge technology, these undoubtedly help add to the originality of the car.
Purchased by the current owner in 2012 with 34, 000 miles, the DB7 Vantage has enjoyed numerous AMOC tours with the owner being an enthusiastic and active club member. Detailed records and an extensive service history help to support the fantastic condition of the car both mechanically and cosmetically.
Regular servicing has been carried out by recognised specialists, most recently earlier this year and less than 500 miles ago by Chicane Classics at a cost of over £6, 000. As well as completing the service and all necessary works, Chicane also carried out complete underbody protection and Waxoyl treatment. In addition, the air conditioning system was overhauled and replacement engine and front and rear suspension mounts were carried out together with the fitment of new tyres.
Having started my career with Aston Martin at the time of the DB7’s launch, this is without doubt the finest example I have driven in what is arguably the best colour combination available.
