1984 JAGUAR XJ6 SERIES 3 4. 2
Fresh out of a recent sympathetic restoration by ourselves is this amazing low mileage series 3 XJ6.
We purchased the vehicle owing to the fact that it is one of the most solid examples we have ever come across and was largely rust free as a whole.
It is a 3 owner vehicle and has only covered 25300 miles from new. Mechanically it is absolutely excellent as you would expect for such a low mileage car and the engine runs beautifully.
The first thing we did was to check the car over thoroughly and establish what works were required. The engine had a flush and also the fuel system was flushed at the same time too. One of the fuel pumps was replaced along with a fresh set of spark plugs and leads, the engine was treated to a service with all the filters (air, oil and fuel) replaced. We removed the rocker covers and air filter housing and engine braces, these were then shot blasted and powder coated for a superior finish. The rocker cover gaskets were then replaced along with all fresh copper washers and chrome cylinder head bolts. Two new brake calipers have been fitted along with fresh discs and pads. As you will be aware this car has twin tanks, both of which are working as they should do.
Next job was the strip the car completely and prepare it for a professional repaint. These series 3 cars can get extremely rusty and the main reason we chose to buy this car was because it had virtually no rust in all of the usual problem areas, all the main panels; doors, wings, sills arches were absolutely perfect in terms of rust but the paint had faded badly in parts and we thought such a genuine low mileage car deserved a proper job! Once all the trim was removed - and I mean everything! bumpers, all the chromes, door handles, locks, screens, windows. We then had both of the screen apertures gently soda blasted to expose any bad metal/ rust that may have been in the window frames, we cut out two small sections at the base of the rear window and replaced with new metal and that was it, at the same time we also replaced the front and rear central valances which both had a small amount of rust as these are far easier to replace the full panel than attempt to repair the existing ones. The main panels were painted off the car and everything was then fitted back up.
Whilst at the paint shop we removed all of the seats and door cards and had all of the trim professionally refurbished which looks absolutely fantastic. We also replaced the full headliner with a new fully trimmed item at the same time.
It is currently having a few minor finishing touches done and will be available for viewing/ delivery from the 4/ 12/ 2020 , a deposit beforehand will secure prior to completion. It will of course be supplied with a fresh MOT.
Any further questions please ask, many thanks for looking
