Brazilian driver, Emerson Fittipaldi, has just become the youngest driver to win the Formula 1 drivers world championship in a Lotus 72, a 5th time a Lotus has won this title. Team Lotus win the Formula 1 constructors championship, also for the 5th time.
What better road car for the F1 enthusiast to buy than the Lotus Elan Plus 2 130. This car retains the special handling qualities of the 2 seat model but with 2 plus 2 seats, wider interior and more luxury. The engine is the upgraded Big-Valve unit, with 130 BHP. Still fitted with the excellent Weber twin 40 carburettors.
This excellent example was delivered in June 1972 to New Zealand. A matching numbers car in its original yellow with a silver roof. A comprehensive history file from new. Which includes an original photograph of the car in 1972. The current mileage 113, 610, with an engine rebuild at 95, 558. The car has been really well maintained and has a number of desirable upgrades including, CV joints on the drive shafts, Touring ratio differential gear set, Electronic ignition, Battery master switch, GAZ adjustable dampers, Superlite alloy wheels with new Dunlop 185/ 65/ 14 tyres and a Retro-Sound audio unit with Blue-Tooth.
