Descrição
Over 53, 000 GBP invested to build this rally specification Volvo 123 GT was carefully built in 2014 from the ground up, with speed, safety and reliability in mind, whilst preserving a sense of originality. It features a full complement of instrumentation, a fire suppression system, roll cage, racing fuel system, and many other additions and modifications to make it an exciting contender in tarmac rally events at a fraction of its build cost without the wait. Power is supplied from the legendary Volvo B20 but as a 2. 4-litre four-cylinder engine built by Volpro Brisbane and mated to a 5 speed Toyota Supra manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates 72, 147 miles. The body, trim and interior are all in good shape for a race car and there are signs of minor battle scars in the way of stone chips and minor imperfections. Glazing and lights present well, however the windscreen does have some minor damage. Inspections at the time of the Targa build indicated that no chassis damage appears to have been incurred over its lifespan. Panel gaps and fitment are respectable for a car of this age, and the red paintwork is in fair order.
Interior trim has mostly been replaced for Targa use, and what remains is in good condition for its age and history. Only the headlining and door trims are believed to be original, with marine-grade carpeting having replaced the original material. All gauges and instruments work, with no faults or warning lights. The standard gear lever has been replaced with an aftermarket shifter, and a Sparco steering wheel has also been fitted. Combined with electric power steering, it gives the driver more precise control, all the while appreciating the fine handling from a well-sorted lightweight chassis. Under the bonnet, the engine bay is very well presented, with some of the original patina still visible. You will see the braided lines for various systems, and the neatly plumbed lines for the Fogmaker fire suppression system and you will see the same attention to detail has gone into the fuel system.
It was last inspected in July 2020, with only the windscreen blemishes drawing attention. Included with the sale are a CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motor Sport) logbook, and various documentation for engine build and overall race preparation, along with multiple keys and 6 pallet loads of spare parts and original 123GT components.
For anyone wanting to get into historic tarmac rally events, this well-sorted Swede provides a magnificent entry-level platform to do so for a fraction of its build cost.

Located in Perth Western Australia I have ended up with the car through a business deal to help an old friend and thought there may be a market for this car in the UK or EU.
The car now comes with 5 pallets of part including motors and gearboxes etc and all the original 123GT parts. The above is a good representation of the car and as a point of interest a Volpro powered Amazon has just won outright the historic section of last weeks Targa Tasmania. You’ll recognise most to the components and the build and the gearbox is Toyota Supra 5 speed. The car appears on the 123 GT registration as an Australian delivered GT.
Our Aussie dollars not that strong currently and I can find out the costs of sending a car to the UK if needed.
