As you can see in the pictures, what we have here is a 2002 MG ZR 1. 4 105 three-door. Bargain basement spec. Manual windows, no a/ c, no central locking. Less to go wrong I guess. Non-sunroof model, so a good potential rally shell? Solid enough old thing structurally, but a bit cosmetically challenged. Let's talk about that first, then we'll move onto the good stuff.
Car is Trophy Yellow, though in all honesty is more than one shade. I believe that's something this colour suffered with as the years rolled by. The arches all have surface rust, but they're not holed and could be sorted pretty easily. other than that, has some stone chips and so on - it's an old car.
The interior is impressive. Really, really clean. Just fitted new mats. All the door cars, dash and carpets are excellent. The headlining is not, as it's pinned up. The driver seat is in decent shape, but doesn't match the others. I guess the original got damaged at some point in the past. Stereo is a brand-new Sony unit. New three-spoke steering wheel has been fitted, but the original comes with the car.
Mechanically, it's spot on. Gave it an engine flush, new filter and new Mobil oil just yesterday. New air filter. New plugs. New Varta battery. Cleaned up the engine bay, too.
MOT until February, V5 here in my name. Had welding on the sills for the last test. Will need tyres soon. Loads of tread, but very old.
I bought it as a project to spruce up, and I've done that to a degree. But can't really justify going any further with it, as I'm now in the throes of buying a house (I wasn't when I bought the car!).
It's a nice enough little thing with MOT for not a lot of money. NO OFFERS please. It owes me more, and nobody wants it, I'll stick it into storage.
