Land Rover production begun at Solihull just over halfway through 1948 and ramped up very quickly to meet the vehicles huge popularity and export potential for post war Britain. This example, vehicle number 4856 off the production line from May 1949 was destined for a working life in the southern hemisphere. Finished in the early ‘light green’ that legend says was used wartime aircraft this vehicle was the 17th Land Rover delivered new to Western Australian distributor, Faulls Motors of Perth.
The vehicle was discovered in the Bussleton area south of Perth in 2019. A local collector of old cars had saved her many years before having completed a full working life. This lovely early Land Rover has very recently had completed a full and stunningly detailed restoration. Data from the original Faulls sales books confirms the original engine is still fitted.
