This DB6 is delivered new in October 1965 to her first owner in the UK, being the first commercially delivered Aston Martin DB6! The original color combination at production was Silver Birch with dark blue leather interior. The Aston Martin is equipped with the ZF 5 speed manual gearbox, features a Webasto full-length sunroof and a retro style Becker Europa radio.
The second owner shipped the DB6 to the US in 1983 where he decided to strip the DB6 to bare metal for a respray in Dubonnet Rosso and some major repairs in the period 1984 – 1987. In 1989 the car was brought back to the UK where she had 3 owners in total until the current owner bought the DB6 in 1996.
The current owner is an Aston Martin lover and collector and enjoyed the DB6 regularly. During the years the Aston Martin was maintained when necessary and no funds are spared to keep the DB6 in excellent condition.
In the period from 2009 to 2011 the DB6 underwent an extensive restoration which means that the Aston Martin was stripped, paint was taken off for necessary body repairs, she is resprayed in the original color Silver Birch, interior – seats, carpets etc. – is renewed in deep Tan color, chrome work is redone, rubbers renewed and many other items. In total the current owner spent more than Euro 150. 000,- on the extensive restoration which was a major investment in that time.
Till today the DB6 had her regular maintenance and repairs which is all documented in the massive history file including fully documented details and photographs of work undertaken. Even the DB6 instruction manual is still with the car.
Recently the owner invested another Euro 25. 000,- on an overhaul of the cylinder head, the fuel pump and some other items.
As enthusiastic Aston Martin lover, the owner brought the DB6 to club meetings and took her for tour rally’s every summer. Therefore the DB6 is an excellent driver and cannot be marked as a “standing” collection car. Nevertheless, this DB6 is a true, rare collector’s item with chassis number 1!
