1953 Riley 2 ½ litre ‘RMF’ – present ownership for 40 years
When the Riley ‘RM’ Series made its debut in 1945, it was met with great enthusiasm - here was an elegant sporting saloon with up to the minute features such as independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering which remained true to the Riley ethos of old.
Available in 1. 5 and 2. 5 Litre versions, these cars were the choice of the connoisseur in their day.
The 2. 5 Litre 100 bhp model was highly praised by the motoring press for its fine handling and performance - the maximum speed being within a whisker of the then magical 100 mph.
Looking most appealing in Woodland Green, this 1953 RMF Series car was first registered in May that year.
In the hands of its late owner for some 40 years, this car has undergone extensive restoration and presents very well in all respects. Although it has been little used in the past year, it drives very well and feels taut and responsive as a good Riley should. There is a Workshop Manual supplied along with a number of bills and a green RF60 logbook dating from 1972.
These handsome thoroughbred motor cars are well catered for by the Riley RM Club and benefit from very good spares availability and support.
