Ford F150 5. 9 litre petrol 360 V8 pick up truck. 1975. Auto. Bronze/ Brown metallic paint. Bench seat for 3. Classic so no MOT required. Free road tax. Left hand drive. Really cheap to insure. Gets lots of good comments and smiles wherever it goes!... and it sounds great!
I have owned this truck for 4 years as my daily driver for work (maintenance services/ tree pruning & gardening) working in and local to Luton area it has always started and not let me down but a change of work due to back problems now means that I have had to buy a more suitable vehicle for a change in career so the truck is for sale, going to miss it and probably kick myself in a few years when i look back and realise i shouldn't have sold it! If i had the space i would keep it. Imported by an American car garage in Welwyn garden city and bought by myself. Photos make the paint look quite a lot better than it is and various other bits that are best to see in person. As far as I know it is solid underneath bar one small area under passenger foot well (panels available easily) I believe it has galvanised rear tub. various dings/ dents, paint chips/ lacquer loss & bubbling and surface rust as it's a work truck (I like the look of it as it is but could be prepped and repainted if that's your style) Would make a great resto project, all parts readily available and easy to work on.
Various parts been replaced over the years, battery, new carbs (£500!) Seat cover, recent new tyres on front, radiator/ overflow, plugs/ leads, etc.
It runs and stops, doesn't smoke, goes through gears nicely. It has some issues (what classic doesn't!) does leak some oil and has done for a while, I have been told by a mechanically minded friend that it may be from the crank seal but hard to be sure, i just know it drips on the drive after an outing, I've kept an eye on levels and topped it up as necessary. Gauges can be erratic, Oil pressure gauge is unreliable (a known issue with these) and can fluctuate so may need replacing or a dash mounted gauge fitted as some people recommend, i have purchased a new oil pump to fit (6 months ago) but not sure if it actually needs it or not and haven't had time to do this, it will be included in the sale along with some other parts. Water leak around thermostat so does lose water regularly, need to keep an eye on levels. Ideally if i had the time and a garage i would pull the engine out for a proper going over. Window winders need replacing, bonnet paintwork surface rust in centre, small area of rust bottom of door, dash top cracked in places from US sun, 8 track player & radio doesn't work (just a fuse I think) needs new passenger side mirror and various other small items need sorting (comes with the pleasure of owning a classic car!) As I said, it hasn't let me down for what I use it for locally but I can't vouch for it on a long run as I have never done one in it, always been local. Best to come and view, start it up and see for yourself, I can poss take viewer for short run around the block but it is declared sorn and uninsured currently so would be at my discretion and with me driving I'm afraid.
So all in all a good solid truck that needs some TLC to the engine and other little bits but can be used daily despite its niggles (character) and various fettling needed to get it in full order. Would advise trailer to transport it due to above info but entirely up to you. Sold as seen as a private sale with no warranties/ guarantees offered.
