Lancia Aurelia B53 Allemano 1953 RHD

When launched at the 1950 Torino Motorshow it was immediately clear that the Lancia Aurelia was one of the most influential technological and stylistic car concepts produced after WW2.
The success came one year later with the Pinin Farina designed Aurelia B20 two-door Coupé, with which Lancia introduced the “Gran Turismo” concept to the world.
Even more interesting was the introduction of the platform chassis subsequently designated as Aurelia B50, B51, B52, B53, etc… on which independent coachbuilders could create their own design.
This Lancia Aurelia B53 was designed for the 1953 Torino Motorshow by the very well reputed Giovanni Michelotti while working for the Torino based Carrozzeria Allemano.
With the body in steel, but bonnet and boot in alloy, the style is typically Lancia: restraint and elegant! Particularly the dashboard detailing, steering wheel and interior are very attractive.
Where as the initial B50 and B51 were powered by a modest 1. 7 liter V6, the B53 benefits from the far more potent 2. 0 liter V6 all alloy engine coupled to the innovative 4-speed transaxle gearbox.
This one-off Aurelia B53 by Allemano is a typical collectors car. In the past, it belonged to a well respected classic car collector in the Netherlands. It also resided in a collection in California – USA, furthermore in a classic car museum in Turkey and recently in a Belgian classic car collection.
