1979 Austin Mini Van In Old English White (cream). This lovely mini van has lived most of its live in Cyprus. It left the UK as an export vehicle so has not seen too many wet roads or salt due to living in Cyprus until 2000 when it was imported back to the UK. It was then stored and has been restored over the last 5 years. Fortunately it was not in a bad way so the restoration was easier than some of the UK cars. The quality of build is very nice and due to being largely original the doors fit perfectly in line with the rear wings which is very rare. It has a 998 cc engine so is far more responsive compared to the 848 cc vans. The engine and gearbox are very quiet and a joy to use. It is one of the best vans I have ever driven and feels very usable. It pulls strongly through the gears and also stops well as the brakes have been rebuilt. The interior is also new and looks nice and original. The restorer has done his very best to use New Old Stock parts and had original items rebuilt instead of buying new which are not always as good quality as the originals. The wheels have been pounder coated and it has new tyres. Restoring a van is a costly exercise and it is generally more cost effective and less painful to buy one which has already been done. I have a box file of invoices for the parts fitted and a Heritage Certificate, both sets of keys and the hand book. The original speedo was showing 35320 miles. A new speedo has been fitted and it has covered just 250 miles since the restoration was complete. It is now a Historic Vehicle so is tax and MOT exempt.
