1973 Triumph Trophy Trail TR5T Assembly Project.
A rare opportunity to acquire a complete 1973 Triumph TR5T Trophy Trail in parts for assembly into a potential concours bike.
I’m reluctantly selling my matching numbers Trophy Trail as I have too many other projects on the go.
I purchased the USA import bike in 2019 and spent some considerable time and effort sourcing rare hard to find missing parts.
The bike is now complete with the exception of a sump guard and easy to obtain parts such as coils, horn, chain, some cables and nuts & bolts etc.
The bike benefits from a very good frame / swing arm which is in original paint. I was unsure to blast and powder coat it or leave as original finish.
Most of the parts seen in the photos are new old stock or ‘as new’ condition such as the rare hard to find air box, speedo, tacho, and handlebar switch, some are duplicated. It also benefits from a new British made cloth wiring loom and all new Lucas electrical components.
The wheels have been rebuilt with premium polished stainless rims and stainless spokes from the Devon Rim Company with polished hubs and shod with new Pirelli MT43 tyres. Many other parts have been polished or plated.
The cylinder head has been removed for inspection of the engine and all looks to be in very good condition. The bores are good and pistons are + 0. 010”. The correct TR5T rocker boxes are present and a new Morgo oil pump is included. Amal 928 carb is present but forgot to include it in the photos.
The bike comes complete with new genuine workshop manual, owners handbook, parts catalogue, data sheet, and various magazine articles.
I have the NOVA certificate and the bike can be easily registered through the DVLA once it has been assembled with a dating certificate available from the Triumph Owners Club. You will have the benefit of being the first owner on the V5!
I’m in no hurry to sell this bike and know the value of the sum of parts. I’ll just keep hold of it and benefit from the rising value of these sort after bikes. However the bikes value could be doubled once its completed and registered.
I would prefer it to go to someone who will enjoy putting it together to the standard they see fit either to be ridden and enjoyed or showed to concours standard.
