1994 Vauxhall Cavalier GLS 2. 0 Automatic
I have owned this car since 2007, prior to which it was purchased new by my late father in law. It has been a hugely reliable and comfortable daily driver for me ever since, and is now just nudging 220, 000 miles on the original engine and automatic gearbox. But finally it is time for it to move on, so here are some more details. It has an MoT until January 2023. A small amount of welding was required for the MoT in January 2022, and this was carried out. Amazingly the first welding the car has needed in its life! It has two quite new front tyres, and drives surprisingly well for its age and mileage, with no major work having been carried out on the engine or autobox. The autobox still works exactly as it should do, it has a sunroof that doesn’t leak, and also has a towbar and twin electrics, although the trailer electrics didn't work last time they were checked. There are also a few issues to be aware of. It tends to smell of petrol a bit from the back end - the tank was removed and refitted by my local garage a few months ago to rectify a major split pipe leak that went into the top of the tank. It does not appear to be leaking from here now and no petrol is landing on the road, but it still pongs a bit from somewhere with the windows open! It’s a bit crispy in places underneath - nothing immediately showstopping as far as I can see, but does need keeping an eye on. As mentioned above, for the last MoT it had the first bit of welding it has ever had, around one of the seat belt anchors, but that was all. Would advise a careful underside inspection though, as it is a long time since I have seen it on a ramp. Paintwork is a little tired, although it still looks fairly reasonable when cleaned and polished. The rear arches have had a bit of filler here and there, and the laquer on one rear door is knackered following an accident repair and respray back in 2009. There is a small hole in the bottom of the offside rear wheelarch, behind the rubber trim the rear door closes on to. The exhaust has a chuff from one end of the silencer. The headlining material is collapsing and has been pinned up in various places. The aftermarket radio has been removed, so it does not come with a radio fitted. In summary, the car is effectively being sold as ‘spares or repair’ with the above issues, but can still be driven for the moment as it is running fine and has six months of MoT remaining; in fact, the mileage may increase a little as I am still driving it. It’s amazing how few of these old Cavaliers are left now, so it would be great if you were looking to breathe a bit more life into it and keep it going! You are very welcome to come and view it; it is located in West Molesey, Surrey. I cannot be certain that I have mentioned every single thing about it and your view of its condition may differ from mine, so a viewing is strongly encouraged so you can make up your own mind. Payment is via immediate bank transfer only please, and the car is sold with no warranty implied or offered.
