Era classics are proud to be selling this amazing historic and iconic Anglia Lotus twin cam. Selling on behalf of the current owner who has owned and enjoyed the car for the past 5 years as part of his unique collection.
This nut and bolt rebuilt example is a fine homage to the very first, Ford test mules to receive the legendary Lotus twin cam prior to development into the the Cortina.
Originally they were left hand drive Ford Anglia’s with the first engine installed on 18 January 1962…This test bed Anglia is reported to have overtaken a Jaguar at well over 100 mph (160 km/ h) in the hands of Jim Clark on his way home to Scotland from Goodwood!!
This ultimate Anglia twin cam tribute has been subject to an amazingly detailed nut and bolt rebuild with many subtle upgrades and additions to give the car fine racing pedigree fit for any afternoon racing at circuits such as Goodwood.
This magazine featured Anglia has been meticulously rebuilt using only the best components available and developed to the amazing standard that it is today. Recently recommissioned and serviced by Lotus specialists, South West Lotus centre, the car is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
With Fast Fords always in demand, this ultimate one off, Lotus Anglia is sure to be a standout at any concours event, track day or just to be enjoyed blasting down the lanes on a sunny afternoon.
From the outset the project was focused on building a “period correct look” but with modern underpinnings to ensure it's a fast, reliable road or track focused car. The Lotus Anglia Ford should have built!
Engine gearbox and carbs were all from the same original MK1 Lotus Cortina, the carbs are 40 DCOE type 18's which were what Lotus fitted to the early cars, the block has several casting numbers including 681F 6015DA. The engine number on the V5C is FS17745 which dates it to March 1966. From Classic Ford magazine article it states that the block was taken out to 1700cc.
