The MG-TD has a 1250 cc 4-cylinder engine with two one-barrel carburetors that puts out just 54 horsepower. History points to MG (which stands for Morris Garage) offered a TC roadster in the states in the 1940 decade that sold fairly well even considering it was a right-hand drive English sports car. Then in 1950, MG technicians took a 1949 Y-Type MG Touring model, cut five inches from the chassis and the MG-TD roadster was born with correct American left hand drive appointments. Since the MG-TD now attracted more enthusiasts with the proper USA left hand steering, more MG sales took place.
This Clipper Blue MGTD is a very rare color to be found. It is a frame up well restored car with matching number motor. In the late 70's the body tub was replaced by Master Craftsman Fenton Bagley. It has been with one owner for nearly 30 years and has only done just over 4k miles since the restoration. It is nice to see correct replacement trim utilized in the restoration including the interior color matched grille slats, tan canvas top, tonneau, and side curtains. The TD axle it has been fit with MGA high-ratio, rear end gearing. The correct Dunlop bias ply 165X15 tires and small MG crested hubcaps are also in place. It also has a badge bar and factory style luggage rack. This great little MGTD has been recently serviced and is ready for new ownership. A great driving car that would do well in local shows or just enjoying a drive in the country.
