Description
An amazingly original and unspoilt example of the CX 10HP which came post Model Y, with the increased 1141cc side valve engine producing 10HP. Production lasted around 2 years, from 1935-37. This example, supplied new in February 1937 by WR Tullocks, Ford main dealers in the Orkney Islands, who still exist today, to Mr Maxwell of St Olafs Place, Kirkwall. He retained the car until June 1968, and part exchanged the car at SP Pottingers garage, Finstown for a new Triumph Herald, BBS2F, which also exists to this day. BS1626, being such a unique low mileage 1 owner example, Stewart Pottinger of Pottingers garage retained the car as part of his own private collection. Around 1980, WR Tullocks decided to purchase the car back into their growing collection of Fords, all of which were originally supplied by them. In 2010, for the first time in 73 years, BS1626 made her way south, crossing the Pentland Firth into the hands of only her second private owner from new in Blairgowrie. Unfortunately in 2021 the owner passed away, and here she emerges. Excluding both garages, this is a 2 private owner car (shows in the current V5 as 2 owners, WR Tullock from 1937 - 2010, then the Blairgowrie owner). The car is as close to factory fresh on the underside, as one would expect for a 3 year old car. Never been welded or repaired. Laid up on blocks in its Kirkwall garage during WW2. The bodywork looks to have had one repaint during its lifetime. All panels are completely straight and original. A recent mechanical recommissioning was carried out by Mulsanne Motors in Dalkeith, where a set of 5 new tyres were also fitted. The car starts and runs as quiet and tight as you'd expect for a car only a few years old. I've personally known of this car for the last 45 years, and can stand over the above description. Where will one find such a genuine usable 86 year old car, with a pedigree such as this, at minimal outlay in todays classic world. A complete car for the price of a DB5 service! Comes with its original Orkney registration plate, which would value at circa £3k on its own. May P/ X. Please see my main website for many more images.
