Description

This exceptional driving, superbly presented Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster is a UK Home Market RHD example that was built on the 8th September 1981, finished from the factory in White with the desirable manual transmission. The car was then supplied new by Fletchers of Swansea, South Wales and a comprehensive file of paperwork details an interesting history on what is essentially a very honest car that has had major expenditure throughout the past 40 years but has never required a total full rebuild. From photographs with the car, we can also see evidence of it looking incredibly original, suggesting the cars recorded mileage in 1985 of 62709 miles was genuine, but cannot be guaranteed. Since then, the car has been improved with huge expenditure, and has only covered a further 6000 miles in the last 38 years.
After the cars early years in South Wales, the E-Type headed North and by 1982 was with its third owner in Kirby Lonsdale who kept the car for around 28 years. Very few miles were covered over this time, but invoices are on file for maintenance, but major expense was recorded in 1988 when purchasing a genuine replacement re-conditioned engine from Jaguar main agents Dutton-Forshaw North. At this time the E-Type also had a brand new clutch fitted. The E-Type was sold after 28 years in 2010 and was briefly with a private owner in Carnforth who re-commissioned the car, fitted a stainless steel exhaust and had the car fully stripped down for various fabrication work and full re-paint - invoices on file. Before selling the car in 2011, the E-Type was serviced with the mileage recorded at 64436 miles, just 100 miles since its re-conditioned Jaguar replacement engine in 1988.

Since 2011, the E-Type has been owned by an East Riding based solicitor who has enjoyed improving the car, spending in the region of £30, 000 on the car. The engine and gearbox have been removed from the car to enable a gearbox rebuild and whilst removed, the decision was made to detail and re-paint the space frame, bulkhead and ancillaries. The radiator was re-conditioned, the brakes rebuilt, power steering renewed, new shock absorbers fitted and new poly bushes fitted all round. The detailed engine and gearbox were then re-fitted to the car. Other work included removing and rebuilding the independent rear suspension and rear axle, and purely for cosmetics, the interior was renewed with re-trimmed Red leather upholstery, new door cards, kick panels and Red carpets. The E-Type was also subject to a chrome wire wheel conversion.

The E-Type now records 68, 000 miles and has arrived with us in stunning condition. The White paintwork has a stunning, gleaming finish and the chrome work is of a very high standard. Lifting the bonnet reveals and exceptional, beautifully detailed and show level engine bay and the upholstery looks impressive. The colour combination is striking and with its perfect chrome wires, the car looks fabulous. Motoring over the past twelve years has been mainly with the roof down, but the hood is in good, serviceable condition and there is also a tonneau cover with the car. Mechanically the E-Type is very strong with its fit, strong re-conditioned engine hardly run in with less than 4000 miles covered, and having had the gearbox, brakes, suspension and rear axle overhauled during recent ownership, the E-Type is ready to drive and enjoy. On the open road this car feels first class, and offers a great opportunity to purchase a very well presented, mechanically excellent UK Home Market manual transmission E-Type Roadster.
