Beschreibung
Built on 3rd October 1967 this UK RHD, matching numbers Healey is a show winning, magazine cover, final production spec car finished in its original colours of Black with a Red interior. As chassis 42738 this car is one of the last 287 (oval ID plate) cars built by the Austin factory, with no further revisions made to the car by Austin at this point. This Healey was delivered new to Charles Clark & Son of Wolverhampton on the 6thOctober and first registered as PJW 999F on the 23rd October 1967 with this numberplate still retained today.
This is one exceptionally smart Healey very clean and well taken care of throughout having been previously owned by Healey restorer Peter Ellis for 35 years prior to the current owner. PJW is an exceptionally smooth driving Austin Healey, much fettled to provide a responsive, precise light and easy to drive car. Whether you’re new to the Austin Healey brand or a serial owner/ collector you will appreciate the feel of this car.
This Healey has received comprehensive work by a restoration specialist over the years and this constant maintenance has made sure the original body and chassis are remarkably well preserved having benefitted from a respray 11 years ago with around 9, 000 miles since.
In 2006 an engine rebuild was carried out utilising the original engine with just 16, 000 miles since. During this process the engine was upgraded to be unleaded converted, gas flowed, the flywheel lightened, the pistons balanced all to give an exceptionally well balanced and refined experience with smoother power delivery than standard.
Inside PJW features Red hide leather seating very accurately retrimmed to factory specification with deep Red carpeting setting the interior off nicely. All the dials are correct restored factory originals as is the dashboard – an item that often perishes easily, not so in this case.
This is a very well-known car in the Austin Healey community for its high quality and good attention to detail. As such the car has featured on the cover of ‘Classic Cars’ magazine, won a few shows and comes much admired by many.
The history of this PJW 99F is strong with a strong history file including all the usual heritage certificates, an original green log book, MOT history, some photos from engine rebuild and restoration, specialist service history for the last 40+ years, original owners handbook, tax discs, original accessories and original literature, original adverts and much more.
