The Minor Van was produced from 1953 until the end of Minor production. Although similar in appearance to the passenger car models, the van and pick-up versions had a separate chassis. First versions were called the “Morris quarter ton van” then “6cwt van” from 1962.
This Minor van has had an interesting history; built at Morris Commercials Adderley Park for export, it spent the first 40 years in Austria, finally being owned by renowned Austrian car restorer Manfred Kubik who treated it to a light restoration and used it to show case his business. In 2010 it was sold to one of his British customers and converted to RHD. The DVLA gave it a "J" registration but it is actually first registered 1969.
It’s had three owners in the UK all of whom have invested in it - as well as routine maintenance it’s had new front wings and a gearbox re-build. More recently it’s had some useful upgrades including front disc brake conversion with servo and under bonnet reservoir, front anti-roll bar with poly bush kit and telescopic rear dampers front and rear. It also has an alternator conversion and electronic ignition; all well chosen mods making it significantly more useable on without spoiling the looks. The rear window conversion was varied out early in its life and was part of a kit with rear seat (now removed).
This van has had a pampered life, is in beautiful condition and other than replacement wings, the body and chassis are highly original and in superb order. The 1098cc “A” series is perhaps the smoothest and sweetest we have heard and as you would expect, it’s running and driving superbly. It comes with a comprehensive history file including various documents from Austria, some spares and a spare set of refurbished wheels and tyres.
