Classic Car Design offers you this robust Land Rover 88 Series 2. It looks great in this unusual pick-up configuration. A few years ago, it was completely dismantled and restored to its original condition. Since then, it has been driven very little and, above all, has never been used off-road! An icon among 4x4s, more than half a million examples of this version were sold around the world in the space of a decade!
On the outside, the typical Land look is there: flat wings, mesh grille, split windscreen, sliding windows... and a spare wheel on the bonnet! Currently without its cover, its frame is available but has been removed. Two hard-tops are available for restoration, one with a 'tropical' roof. The body is finished in the original pale green paintwork, which is shiny and scratch-free, but unfortunately there are a few cracks and misapplications.
Inside, we're plunged into a rustic atmosphere with the omnipresence of sheet metal and a bench seat that's spartan to say the least! Only the rubber mats protect the immaculate floor. Everything is as it was originally, in excellent condition and functional.
Technically, it is equipped with the 2. 25L diesel engine, which starts perfectly and runs well without a lot of smoke. Its low power and 2. 20m wheelbase don't make it an ace on the road, the suspension is as stiff as you could wish and the brakes slow it down well... But we all know that the Land Rover will be formidable off-road, that's what it's made for! To achieve this, the entire powertrain works, with 4x2 or 4x4 shifting and short or long modes...
This Land Rover has benefited from an almost total overhaul. Even if there are a few cosmetic defects, it's in remarkable condition. It's up to you to see if you're bold enough to take it off the beaten track!...
