Description
The Chevrolet Corvette C3, launched in 1968, is one of America's most iconic muscle cars, famous for its aggressive styling and powerful V8 engines. This first-year model embodies all the charm of a true classic and perfectly represents the legendary "Shark" generation. This particular example was assembled in April 1968 at the original factory in St. Louis, Missouri, making it one of the first genuine C3s produced. It is presented in its original Le Mans Blue (code 976), an intense and vibrant metallic blue, combined with a black leather interior. This exclusive colour, available only for the 1968 model year, is highly sought-after by collectors today. It takes its name from the famous Le Mans 24 Hours race circuit, further accentuating the vehicle's sporty and prestigious image. Under the bonnet is a 5. 7-litre (350cc) V8 engine fed by a twin-barrel carburettor, entirely analogue and with no electronics, in keeping with the raw driving spirit of the era. Coupled with a manual gearbox, this engine offers real driving pleasure to those seeking an authentic and engaging experience. With its bold looks and assertive character, this Corvette is made for enthusiasts who like to stand out from the crowd. It has 64, 648 miles on the clock and is in very good overall condition. Originally delivered to the USA, it was imported to Germany after a full restoration, including a new paint job in its original Le Mans Blue colour. Many key parts were replaced during this restoration: suspension, brakes, shock absorbers, engine alternator, air conditioning compressor, etc. In 2015, it was rated 2+ by German experts, proof of its excellent condition. The car is accompanied by numerous TÜV reports and technical inspections attesting to its quality. Summary of its history: - 1 July 1968: first registration - November 2011: registered in Jacksonville, Florida - August 2015: technical inspection carried out - August 2016: registered in Germany - June 2017: change of owner in Germany - Mid-2020: imported and registered in Belgium (one owner since) Since its arrival in Europe, it has always been maintained by specialist professionals. The bodywork is in excellent condition, with impeccable chrome and high-quality paintwork. The black leather interior is well preserved, and the whole vehicle looks very good. This model retains the original chrome bumpers at the front and rear, a distinctive detail of the first C3s, much appreciated by purists. It is also equipped with a number of original options, some of which were rare in 1968: electric windows, air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Another special feature of this early version is the fully removable rear window, a unique detail that was to disappear on later models. To sum up, this is a very fine, reliable and sought-after example of a classic American sports car, in remarkable condition, well documented, with rare options and a manual gearbox.
