Description

1962 Triumph TR4

Make: Triumph
Model: TR4 Sports
Registration: 2063 WK
Year: 1962

Previously owned by late music producer Alan Bates, 1 family owned from new. LHD, U. K registered vehicle from new.

Purchased new by Alan Bates, renowned jazz record producer and the man who launched the career of Jamie Cullum, this TR4 is finished in red with black trim and was first registered 14th June 1962. Mr Bates had worked previously with Jimmy Hendrix, Tina Turner and Otis Redding, while working for Polydoir records, but in the 60's we have been informed by his daughter that he took this left-hand drive example to Paris where he lived and worked for several years opposite the Moulin Rouge, running Riverside Records before returning with the car to southwest London where it remained. Sadly, after his passing in January 2023, the car was left to his wife hence the car having 2 registered keepers.

We purchased late 2023 and carried out a light recommission with the following work being carried out...

Work carried out within the last 6 months-
Brake overhaul including, new front calipers, pads, flexi pipes and brake master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders
Carburettors overhauled
Refreshed the Distributor, plugs, leads
drain and cleaned out fuel tank
Clutch master and slave cylinder
clutch flexi pipes
driver and passenger window weather strips, inner and outer
front window screen rubber with trim
front screen panel lower rubber seal
front carpet set
small amount of localised paintwork (blisters only, no rot)
hood frame webbing kit
Running and driving as it should, this is an original unrestored example, never been welded. Please remember this is a 61 year old vehicle with various imperfections. Currently indicators not working and our mechanic is on holiday (price reflected to sell) believe it could be flasher relay but not been investigated

Mot and tax exempt.

Original hood and frame in very good order, also a tonneau cover, the hood looks as if its never been used
