Description
The Triumph TR4 was produced between 1961 and 1965. The chassis was similar to the TR3 as was the engine although the size was increased to 2138cc as seen on the final run of TR3B cars. Interestingly some cars were fitted with twin Stromberg’s, others with SU H6 carburettors which are arguably better.
This car is a 1962 TR4 in red with a black interior. It is fitted with optional overdrive and wire wheels and a “Surrey top” as well as the standard convertible roof. We bought this car from its last owner who has had the car since 2015. He spent considerable sums on maintenance and a wealth of replacement parts were fitted over the period. In addition, the car has been fitted with upgraded front springs, braided brake hoses electronic ignition and matching “Firestone” classic tyres.
As you can see from the photos it presents in beautiful condition – we understand that it was restored in 1990 by the highly respected “Marksdanes” of Evercreech and appears to have lead a pampered life since then, covering a small mileage. It was serviced less than 100 miles ago and we have just carried out various minor additional mechanical and cosmetic jobs. The interior, underside, chassis and engine bay all present very well and on the road this 66 year old Triumph drives beautifully with strong oil pressure and working overdrive.
