Own a piece of motorcycle history! The 1973 Triumph Trophy Trial (TR5T) is a lightweight, off-road-ready twin-cylinder bike built for competition and adventure. With its 499cc four-stroke parallel-twin engine, 5-speed gearbox, and rugged suspension, this bike was designed to handle rough terrain with ease.
With its 499cc, air-cooled, parallel twin engine and lightweight oil-bearing design frame, long-travel front forks and dual rear shocks, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel for superior off-road handling, weighing in at around 300 Lbs, the Trophy Trial was only produced for only two years (1973–1974), making it a sought-after classic.
Used in events like the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) by racers such as Dave Mungenast, Ken Harvey, and John Greenrose, earning silver medals, the Trophy Trial represents one of Triumph's final collaborations with BSA before the mid-1970s industry shift.
As you can see this particular example has remained remarkably original having been preserved for a number of decades in storage in France. Imported in to the UK and the current owner has had it sympathetically recommissioned in an 'oily rag' manner, as such this offers an incredible rare opportunity to acquire such an unmolested example of British Motorcycle history.
An ideal run around for Goodwood and Le Mans Classic, events like the Malle Mile, or just riding out on a sunny day.
