***** DEPOSIT TAKEN**** This is a 1967 early +2 Elan, one of the first early cars, Cheshunt built. The car has just come out of long term dry lock up storage from 1978. The early cars are a rare and sought after model. These cars have the ‘clean’ shape of a +2 Elan which is typical of the early cars. This particular car has the black Lotus nose badge, black Golf ball gear knob and black horn push. It also has the original factory body shell with bonnet, boot and both doors. Also having the factory Chesthunt chassis plate. Overall the chassis, body work and running gear look to be in good condition. The interior is especially good in this car and has all the early unique trim - dash board, instruments, switches, door cards and the transmission tunnel with map pocket. Most of the early cars don’t normally have this type of transmission tunnel in this condition and they are very difficult to source. The Weber engine and gearbox were removed in 1978. The engine was then rebuilt with new pistons etc. As this was done many years ago it would be prudent to recheck the engine and reassemble. This of course will save a considerable amount of money as it should just be a simple case of fitting a new gasket set and water pump kit etc and miscellaneous parts. If one considers that a good condition rebuilt MK2 Lotus Twin Cam engine is worth between £5, 000-£6, 000 this makes this Lotus car good value for money.
