Description

A highly presentable and very well-documented example of Jaguar’s iconic sports classic, which was in single family ownership for over 30 years, passing from father to son, prior to the current owner 2022 acquisition.
Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 4. 2-litre inline-six, delivering around 265bhp and 283lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
The odometer displays 96, 000 miles.
An original UK-supplied ‘matching-numbers’ example, this E-Type 4. 2 Fixed-Head Coupe was manufactured in September 1969 and retains its original Regency Red paint colour over a grey biscuit leather interior.

The car’s open headlight design – a distinguishing feature of Series 2 cars – has been reverted to the much sought after Series 1-style closed headlight design, this adding commanding historic presence whilst benefitting from the series 2 upgrades and reliability - a perfect match.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This E-Type is finished in its original colour combination of Regency Red over a grey leather-trimmed cabin, accented by the original wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel.
It rides on a set of very good 15-inch chrome wire wheels with twin-eared knock-offs, which are all wearing matching Pirelli P400 tyres, all having excellent tread remaining.
The cabin features the correct wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation, a cigarette lighter, and the original period-correct Philips radio.
The car is accompanied by a raft of invoices dating back to 1977, including photographic evidence of the work carried out to the car as well as historic tax discs and MOT test certificates, as well as a Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust certificate confirming the car’s original specification, chassis number, and engine number.
CONDITION

There is no bodywork damage.
The Regency Red paintwork is in good condition, having been resprayed in the 1980's/ 1990s, so now having a healthy patina commensurate with that age. There is no rust.
Inside, the cabin presents particularly well, having been retrimmed in April 1993, and used sparingly since. The grey biscuit leather upholstery is in very good order with only some minimal light creasing, while the original dashboard and controls present a wonderful ‘patina’ of age and light use.
There are no known electrical or mechanical faults, this supported with a new, advisory free, 12 month MOT.
The most recent MOT test took place on xx August 2025 at 94, xxx miles, resulting in a clean pass. The car is now exempt from mandatory MOT testing on account of it being over 40 years old but the current seller believes in good MOT practice so has now resumed same.

SERVICE HISTORY

This E-Type’s latest service was carried out in 2025 at 94, 000 miles by a Jaguar trained mechanic. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, a brake inspection and most recently the triple carburettors were partially stripped and fully serviced and thus the engine either when idling at tick over or under pressure sounds superb.
The car has been fully serviced three times in the past eight years having been used very sparingly during the summer months only, but always kept in dry under cover storage, although exercised gently on a regular basis on the private concrete farm roads within the storage compound area.
The seller also notes that the cylinder head, gearbox and rear axle have been fully rebuilt with little subsequent mileage, this is documented by many detailed photographs which accompany the vehicle along with the original Jaguar Heritage Certificate - an all fully matching numbers car of course.
Major noted maintenance – with receipts:

2025 - Oil and all fluids checked and changed as required, with the triple carburettors being partially stripped, fully serviced and tuned to car.
2007 – Rear axle / subframe rebuilt
Nov 1997 – Full new clutch and assembly rebuildThe car was purchased by the previous owners father in October 1991 and was passed to the previous owner son in 2007, since which it has covered very few miles.
The current owner bought the car in 2022 as an interim vehicle for usage with his Grandson during the extensive restoration of another E Type Jaguar in his collection.
