Description
E‑TYPE Series 1 Fixed Head Coupé in a stunning colour combination – Fully restored – Matching numbers
The E‑type received its first major update in July 1964, when the original 3. 8‑litre engine was replaced by the 4. 2‑litre inline six. Jaguar also introduced a fully synchronised gearbox, larger brakes and more comfortable seats, while the elegant Series 1 bodywork remained unchanged.
This particular E‑type was built in December 1964 at Jaguar’s Coventry factory and delivered new to California.
Thanks to the favourable climate, the car remained in excellent condition and provided an ideal foundation for a complete restoration carried out between 2012 and 2013. The car was fully stripped down — body, mechanical components and interior — and rebuilt from the ground up.
The owner’s collection lacked a Series 1 E‑type, and although his height made driving one difficult, the desire to own and enjoy the car was stronger. During the restoration, the bulkhead behind the seats was expertly repositioned to allow the seats to slide further back. The modification was done with great care, enabling comfortable driving without compromising the car’s character. Dream achieved.
The chosen colour scheme - black exterior over a red interior - is both striking and period‑correct. From 2013 to 2025, the car was driven regularly and maintained meticulously, with no expense spared. The result is a truly exceptional E‑type, even for taller enthusiasts.
