We are very pleased to offer a stunning 1965 Mk1 Morris Mini Traveller De Luxe. Finished in Tartan red with a matching red interior. This Traveller oozes sixties charm and instantly draws an admiring crowd wherever it is driven. This matching numbers example has the very sought after smooth roof and its original door pull handles. It has a fully documented illustrious history and is in fact a very well known example. Its first owner was the Earl of Mountbatten of Burma, the Admiral of the fleet, it is accompanied with its original log book from 1965 confirming its titled owner. Later in life it has been on display at Gaydon at the British Motor Museum and more recently formed part of Anthony Hamilton's private collection, none other than Lewis Hamilton's father. It is accompanied with a large service history folder, handbooks and service receipts. Restored in the early nineties and supported with a detailed invoice and numerous photos, it has settled in very nicely and is easily in show condition but also ready to be driven and enjoyed. This a rare opportunity to own a real piece of Classic Mini history.
On the road it is an absolute pleasure to drive. The original 850 engine is near silent with strong oil pressure and the magic wand gearbox is taught and precise. Performance will certainly surprise as it easily keeps up with modern traffic. It has an electronic ignition that means it instantly starts and feels ready to be driven anywhere. This is the pure Mk1 Mini experience, ten inch wheels, large steering wheel and the open road, it will certainly make you smile.
The interior is beautifully presented and has so much charm and style. Red seats with matching door cards and dash liner. Three clock binnacle, original steering wheel, door pull chords and a fully fitted carpet set. The Traveller is a hugely versatile car, hence there popularity when they were launched. The rear load area is very useful and the rear seats also fold down flat giving Mini Van size boot space, perfect for a weekend away.
The Traveller has a very solid shell and is body coloured on the underside with the correct sills. The floor pans and inner arches are also body coloured. The all important Ash frame is in excellent condition and the paintwork gleams and really does belie its 60 year vintage. This Mini will certainly make any lucky new owner very happy.
The Mini has been fully serviced, checked and driven. It is also MOT and Tax exempt.
