The fastest production car in the world of its time
We write the year 1992. The 1990s were the era of the first supercars which, alongside racing cars, broke through the 300 km/ h barrier. The start was made by the Ferrari F40 at 324 km/ h, followed by the new Bugatti EB 110 at 336 km/ h. Then came JAGUAR with the XJ220 and a top speed of 350 km/ h – winner! From another world in 1992 and 1993, still spectacular today.
The Jaguar Sport chief Tom Walkinshaw, also known for his international wins with the touring car JAGUAR XJS and the Silk Cut Group C racing prototypes XJR 9 to XJR 14 which won Le Mans, Daytona and other international races and championships.
The mighty engine of the XJ220 originally came from the Group C race prototypes XJR 10 and XJR 11, here tamed for public roads.
The figures for the XJ220 still impress today in 2026, more than 30 years later. For the 0-100 km/ h sprint it needs only 3. 6 seconds. The weight is just 1, 570 kg and the body design is eternally beautiful.
The build quality, handcrafted of course, was significantly higher than its rivals. The bodywork is aluminium, and the engine–transmission–rear-axle unit is mounted in a separate frame with quick-release fasteners for all lines and can be completely dismantled.
Air conditioning, electric windows and a sound system were fitted, typical British, always a touch more refined than the competition.
Only 285 examples were built (including the 10 pre-production cars). This picture-perfect example in Le Mans Blue with Sand interior is surely the prettiest for most and, moreover, the rarest colour combination and bears production number 283. The third-to-last example.

The body paint is the original, the overall condition is exceptional and excellent.
