Description

For sale, my gorgeous 1966 Series 1 E-Type, fixed head 2-seater coupe (FHC).

Very genuine numbers-matching UK supplied RHD E-Type with Jaguar Heritage certificate, one of 1, 583 Series 1 fixed-heads built for the UK home market.

Chassis no: 1E21323
Engine no: 7E8649-9
Reg no: KLH821D

It's the factory correct colour of Opalescent silver blue, probably the best colour to show off the lines, and the coachworks-applied paint presents beautifully. Correct colour blue leather interior.

Ask me for my walkaround videos, unable to post on here.

The E-Type was first sold in April 1966 by Henly's of London and used extensively in period, with a couple of owners until the clutch went at 60, 000 miles in 1970's.

It underwent body restoration works with new wings, sills etc by an ex-Rolls Royce mechanic, but was then garaged for 30 years before the same owner completed the restoration with full bodywork and & suspension & brakes restoration with new discs & calipers etc in the late 2000's, I have some old restoration photos.

Beautifully repainted in correct colour by Weald Coachworks in 2007 and with all new windscreen & chrome trim, new radiator etc loads of parts, and has stood the test of time as it still looks fresh, absolutely no rust, and now has only 69, 000 miles on the original engine & gearbox which all works great and pulls like a train.

Everything does what it should and it drives & handles without fault. Stainless exhaust system, perfect chrome wire wheels & excellent Blockley radial tyres. Disc brakes all round, all with only barely visible wear.

Interior is in great condition and is mostly the original leather. At restoration it had new headliner, door trim & carpets, but it all looks original. All gauges work except the clock.

Spare wire wheel & tyre in the boot, along with Jaguar tool roll and items including wheel lug spanner & mallet, spare SU fuel pump, fan belt, jack, etc (none of which I’ve ever needed).

Engine bay is very clean but not over-restored with original paint on the engine framework, the chassis VIN clearly showing on the chassis leg.

When I bought the car I worked through it for ultimate reliability and upgraded the distributor to a switchable 123 branded unit, fitted new silicone leads, cap & plugs etc, and also a big Spal electric fan with manual override matched to the shroud to replace the hopeless factory unit + new rad hoses etc. It never overheats, drive it anywhere. Regular oil & filter changes, and I will undertake one before collection so it’s ready to go (8. 5 litres of Valvoline).

Garaged 100% by me and prior owners, and probably done 95% dry miles since restoration. It's not a £200k concours but really lovely and genuine overall and not so perfect you’re scared to drive it.

A regular visitor to Goodwood, Bicester and Prescott, I’d confidently jump in and drive anywhere. Drive away a great car this Spring!

There’s a good amount of history in the thick A4 file that accompanies it, including old buff log book, photos, invoices and work done etc. Enthusiast owned & maintained for many years.

I've had the E-Type nearly 6 years, it was a childhood dream and I looked at several before buying this one. It’s been a fantastic car, so nice to drive and totally reliable, keeps up with modern traffic no problem, but I’m listing for sale as there are still other cars on my wishlist. A truly classy E-Type in a gorgeous colour, it always makes people smile. These photos don't really do it justice, need to view on a sunny day!.
