From their inception in 1920, Moto Guzzi were destined always to produce technically interesting motorcycles. Initially, and for many years associated with their horizontal in-line, four stroke engines, they eventually added a v-twin model in 1933. This was also an in-line oriented motor, and created by combining two singles on a common crankcase. Racing successes in the TT followed in both 250 and 500 classes, with Stanley Woods doing the 'double' in the Senior and lightweight classes in 1935. Racing success continued after the war, until their withdrawal from racing in 1957. The first across-the-frame Guzzi shaft drive v-twin was the 700 V7 announced at the end of 1965. This was the beginning of the v-twin Guzzis as most people know them, and led to a range of differing sizes from 350 to 1400cc. From the introduction of the V7, the model remained in the range until the present day, transitioning through a variety of different versions. In 2021 the 850 made its debut, titled 850 V7 Special, it was equipped with the customary shaft drive, six-speed gearbox, fuel injection, 40mm forks, and capacious 21-litre fuel tank.
YO21 LNJ was purchased new by the private owner, and used for limited mileage only, in fine weather, covering only 550 miles from new. It has been part of the owner's private collection, and kept in a climate-controlled 'Carcoon'. It was last MoT'd in August 2024, and has only covered the mileage back from the MoT station since then. The vendor advises that it will run as required and, subject to a fresh MoT and minor recommissioning, can be readily used by a new owner. The Guzzi is now being sold only due to the vendor's age. Documentation comprises a current V5C, the original bill of sale, and original book pack containing the handbook and service record.
