Description
THE TRIUMPH Herald 12/ 50 was, basically, the GT version of the 1200 model. The bhp was increased from 39 to 51 and the car was given disc brakes, a Webasto sunroof, different front grille and 12/ 50 badging.
However, this fine old bird has been treated to even more goodies and now boats a twin-carb set up and minilite wheels. The original 1200cc dashboard with the one single dial has also been replaced with a later two-clock dial from the later Herald 13/ 60. Thus you have the original Herald look with those delightfully sweeping front wings coupled to performance that has even been increased from the original increase. Yes. That's if you are still with me and this is making sense.
Anyway, very solid underneath with excellent outriggers. Drive-wise, she is a dream and you feel like you are genuinely driving a sports car, given that the design of the Herald makes it so low to the ground.
The engine was rebuilt a couple of years ago and she sounds great, The two-tone combo of Olive and Cactus was always a popular blend on the 12/ 50 model and she is a real eye catcher. There are paint imperfections, although they are mostly areas on the Cactus paintwork where decades of over zealous polishing have resulted in the paint being polished through to primer. The interior is in excellent condition and the Webasto sliding sunroof is as good as new having been replaced in recent years.
