Description
Developed as the ultimate special model to conclude Ferrari’s celebrated era of naturally aspirated V8 engines, the 458 Speciale was born from the already extraordinary 458 Italia. Revered today by collectors around the world, it is regarded as the last Ferrari capable of delivering the intoxicating, razor-sharp racing soundtrack that screams all the way to 9, 000rpm — an experience that simply cannot be replicated by today’s downsized turbocharged or hybrid power units.
Ferrari’s engineers pursued performance without compromise. Extensive use of carbon fiber components, a stripped-back interior, and thinner lightweight glass all contributed to an aggressive weight reduction program. Housed within this sharpened body is the naturally aspirated 4. 5-liter V8 engine [F136B], producing an astonishing 605hp — equivalent to 135hp per liter without forced induction. Combined with lightning-fast response and breathtaking character, the result was performance worthy of a true racing machine, including 0–100km/ h acceleration in just 3. 0 seconds.
Every element of the car was engineered solely in pursuit of shaving fractions of a second from lap times. Active aerodynamic flaps at the front and rear automatically adjust according to speed, while the cabin features Spartan carbon-shell seats trimmed in Alcantara and fabric, along with a minimalist carbon-fiber center bridge housing only the essential controls.
Among the 1, 308 coupe examples produced, this particular car stands out with an astonishingly low mileage of just 1, 916km.
Finished in the iconic Rosso Corsa with a central racing stripe, the exterior wears what is arguably the purest expression of the Speciale’s signature image and character.
Furthermore, the well-known sticky interior trim issue commonly associated with aging Ferraris has already been comprehensively addressed and refreshed throughout the cabin. Combined with its excellent storage history, the car remains in near time-capsule condition, evoking the impression of having just emerged from the showroom.
Whether one chooses to preserve this historically significant asset in a private collection, or awaken its miraculous naturally aspirated powerplant to unleash one of the greatest high-revving soundtracks ever created, that ultimate luxury is reserved exclusively for the next custodian fortunate enough to inherit this masterpiece.
