The SM still inspires dreams today, across all generations. Only 12, 920 examples were sold over five years of production. Today increasingly sought after, SMs are enjoying a growing revival of interest. A perfect synthesis of modernity, comfort and performance, the SM is a true GT, distinctive, stately and stylish.
The SM we feature in these pages was first registered in 1973 and thus belongs to the series of electronically injected versions. It originally comes equipped with air conditioning and a black leather interior. From new, the car rolled off the assembly line in metallic grey.
It was restored a few years ago, and during its full restoration, repainted in a unique colour. The shade Vert Devon code ESW. It’s a Citroën shade but at the time used on some utility models in the range.
The collector owner acquired it from a Dutch professional in 2019 and will use the splendid SM for cruising. Numerous maintenance works have been carried out over the years and with use. The radiator was replaced with an aluminium unit, the tyres, the air conditioning and quite recently a full chassis/ tuning adjustment carried out by a SM specialist, Nicolas Gallet.
During our test drive we were won over by this car with its unique colour, which suits it so well. The mechanics are in very good condition and this grand touring car just asks to hit the road for journeys.
