1955 Triumph Tiger Cub 200 – NSL 302
A charming and very presentable 1955 Triumph Tiger Cub 200, registration NSL 302, finished in an attractive light metallic blue with black and polished alloy detailing.
Introduced in 1954, the Tiger Cub was Triumph's 200cc development of the earlier Terrier and became one of the best-known lightweight British motorcycles of the 1950s and 1960s. Powered by a compact 199cc overhead-valve single-cylinder engine, the Cub was economical, easy to handle and proved popular both as everyday transport and in trials and competition use.
This early example retains much of the classic Tiger Cub character, including its sprung solo saddle, early rear suspension arrangement, telescopic forks, wire-spoke wheels, drum brakes, traditional Triumph tank badges and period-style headlamp nacelle.
The bike presents very well overall. The light blue paintwork and brightwork are particularly attractive, while the saddle shows some age-related wear and patina which suits the motorcycle well rather than detracting from it.
The motorcycle runs and rides as it should, but as it forms part of a collection and has seen limited recent use, we recommend a full service, inspection and general recommissioning before regular or safe road use.
Tiger Cubs remain very popular with classic motorcycle enthusiasts due to their attractive styling, simple engineering, manageable size and strong Triumph heritage. Early examples such as this have become increasingly collectable.
