Reluctantly selling my Martin & Walker Porsche 550 Spyder Replica -
Originally purchased in 2000, I am the third owner. Fibreglass bodywork with M & W designed tube chassis (chassis has been treated with POR 15 anti corrosion paint system) patterned on the original 550 Spyder design allowing true mid-engine location, wishbone suspension at front, De Dion Tube rear axle, adjustable dampers fitted all round. (Lesser replicas use modified Skoda or VW floorpans).
1. 5 litre water-cooled Alfa Romeo Boxer engine, twin Dellorto carbs, (105 bhp in standard tune), 5 speed Alfa gearbox. Custom stainless steel exhaust system fitted, patterned to replicate original Spyder exhaust system. (Sounds fantastic!).
The car has full M & W interior trim consisting of M & W carpet set (in black) and M & W reproduction Spyder seats trimmed in black leather. Luke racing harnesses fitted. Period correct Porsche Spyder dashboard switchgear fitted, (genuine 50's Porsche dash switches for lights, wipers)
100% period correct repro 550 Spyder Instrument Cluster (Speedo, Tacho, fuel / temp) installed.
Fitted with period correct genuine Nardi wooden steering wheel with repro solid alloy Porsche horn button. Reproduction handbrake installed patterned on the original Spyder handbrake. Period correct Spyder badging and Spyder scripts, Wendler Coachworks and 50's Nurburgring emblems. Period correct repro Spyder clear front indicator lenses fitted. Spare set will be sold with car along with correct repro red Spyder rear light lenses (never fitted to car).
Full Martin & Walker weather gear (frame, roof and sidescreens), tonneau cover and breathable (NOAH) Covercraft 550 Spyder car cover with storage bag and lock supplied with car. Stainless Steel Baby Moon Hubcaps recently fitted. Some engine parts / spares will also go with the car if the purchaser wants them.
MOT'd to April 2015. Taxed to July 2014 (Tax exempt historic vehicle).
Any prospective purchaser should please note that the paintwork on the car is now 11 years old and there are a coupe of small areas of microblistering, some paint chips and a few small fibreglass stress cracks here and there commensurate with age. The car could do with a respray in future to bring it back up to its full potential. The door alignments could also be improved. I have therefore reduced my asking price to reflect that. However, it still a stunning looking car and gets a lot of interest whenever and wherever it is driven.
