Chuck Beck has been working in the automotive industry for many decades. His creativity has lent itself to creating many specialty cars as well as quality replicas. He is probably best known for introducing a recreation of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder back in 1982. Since then, he has built over 2, 500 examples and licensed his product to many other assembling companies across the globe. His name has become synonymous with Spyders.
The owner of this 550 had always admired these kits and wanted to build one with his son. So, a little over 10-years ago, he ordered a kit from Beck and had it delivered to his Orange County home. The kit was a complete roller and needed primarily the drivetrain. As an engineer by profession, he enjoyed this project. Highlights of the build include:

Dyno results showed 174 horsepower and 163 lb. ft. of torque.
Less than 800-miles ago (December of 2014), the owner took the car to TruSpeed and had them perform a thorough inspection, fix items properly, and generally make sure the car was in top mechanical condition. In total, the bill was over $9, 000 and included the following items:
Adjust valves and replace gaskets
Installed MSD distributor, cap, and wires
Custom fabricated aluminum bracket to mount MSD
Rewired and replaced all engine wiring including modifying the battery tray
Reinstalled engine oil cooling fan and automatic temp switch
Added additional fuse box in engine compartment
Replaced all shocks (KYB)
Full alignment
Installed parking brake and reinforced shift tower cable attachment points
Modified spring plates to properly align car
Re-indexed all brake lines so there was no rubbing
Fabricated stronger seat riser spacers and slider mechanism
New CV boots/ repacked axles
Fabricated aluminum chin spoiler for better stability at higher speeds
Leather wrapped Nardi steering wheel and wood Nardi shift knob
Recently, the owner (in preparing the car for sale) did a full fluid flush throughout the car including motor and gear oil. Also, he performed a brake fluid flush.
Although the car was finished over 10-years ago, it was driven sparingly for local weekend driving. It was never raced or abused. As a result, it has hardly any miles and looks fantastic. The original paint from Beck shows minimal signs of use. There are a few blemishes on the front nose and some light scratches in a few places (see pics). The chrome wheels look great and are wrapped in near full tread Bridgestone tires. They are older, but look perfect with no cracks or age signs. The disc brakes have over 75% life remaining. The front right turn signal has a chip in the plastic (see pic). The interior looks equally as nice. The leather seats show minimal wear. The carpet is also in good shape. All the gauges and lights operate properly.
This 550 Spyder is a blast to drive. Weighing only 1, 300 pounds, it is seriously fast. The steering is very responsive and well suited to the chassis. The disc brakes have excellent feedback and no fading. The gearbox shifts smoothly with no clutch slip. This example is turnkey and ready to enjoy today.
California registration is paid through January of 2018.
This Spyder comes with all the build receipts, a box of miscellaneous parts (see pic), original tonneau cover, and an extra key.
