1949 Allard M-Type four seat drop head coupé, registration number HZ 2552, blue.
Sidney Allard, successful trials and racing car driver of the late 1930s, settled down to an avant garde production series in the late 1940s with the majority of their competition and road cars being powered by Ford's flathead V8.
This M-Type was delivered new to a doctor in Northern Ireland, who took part in local speed events and hill climbs.
The owner advises us that the Allard took part in a Hurlingham Club Concours d'Elegance and other London events before retiring to the owners West Country home some ten years ago.
Its only long distance use since retiring to the West Country was a trip to Le Mans Classic Car Show in 2016, commemorating Allard's success in the 24 hour race and also their victory in the 1952 Monte Carlo Rally, where the name on the car and the driver's surname matched (the only time in the event's history this has happened).
The car comes with a substantial history file covering its career and extensive restoration, which was carried out in approximately 2000. V5C, MOT and tax exemp
