Mel Herman's multi concours award winning M type restored to an extremely high standard.
Completely rebuilt 3. 9 litre engine at time of restoration with an excellent 4 speed all synchro gearbox conversion retaining the torque tube and a 3. 27 CW&P.
It has many mod cons fitted including radio and seat belts.
This must be the best M Type out there.
Mel Herman’s multi concours award winning M type is restored to an extremely high standard. Mel was meticulous about every aspect and detail of the car and his efforts are clear when you look inside or outside. The car was a multiple winner of awards at AOC (Allard Owners Club - allardownersclub. org) gatherings and other events Mel attended.
He completely rebuilt the 3. 9 litre flathead at the time of restoration. It has a Volvo 4 speed all synchro gearbox, with great ratios allowing cruising at legal limits. It retains the torque tube with a 3. 27 crown wheel and pinion. It starts easily, drives beautifully, has a heater, radio and seat belts to make life more pleasant and safer. It has a custom made Autosparks loom, providing switching and power for the additions Mel specified. Carpet throughout is high quality. Seats are renovated and beautifully upholstered in red leather. All interior panels have been remade and recovered perfectly. All dials work as they should and the steering wheel is refinished to a high standard. The folding hood was remade and works perfectly.
The car has been awaiting a new owner and you should expect some light recommissioning as it comes back into use, but there are no known faults with the car and the brakes work well. To achieve a renovation to this standard would cost multiples of the asking price, so if you are considering a renovation project, why not save yourself time and money - buy with this beautiful car.
