8268 PE was first registered on the 12th July 1963. We have a continuation logbook dating to 1975 stating the car as Green with the original registration mark 8268 PE. Information from the logbook shows the MG had three owners up to the early 80's, two of them addressed at Royal Air Force Abingdon.
The MG has come to us a very good, useable example. It drives superbly with a lovely sweet engine holding good oil pressure, the gearbox changes up and down smoothly and it handles superbly and brakes are sharp. An MOT dating back to 1976 is with the car and it would appear the car was restored during the 1980's. There is a photo in the history file with the engine removed, ready for bodywork and from 1995 there are 21 MOT certificates showing the MG has been used annually. There is also documentation in the history file stating the engine has standard bores, have been lightly honed, has original pistons, new big end and main bearings, new cam followers, new valve springs and a new timing chain fitted.
8268 PE has a good solid and straight bodyshell, paintwork is bright but likely 20 years old now and presents as a nice older restoration. The hard top is in good order, chrome work is bright and the interior and engine bay smartly presented. These early MKI Midgets are highly desirable and this car is offered at a very sensible price offering excellent value.
