Description

Fresh into stock, this fabulous 1954 Norton Model 88 "Dominator De Luxe". The Model 88 was the first Norton to be fitted with the famous featherbed frame, which in the early days was manufactured by the Reynolds brothers for Norton.

It's build in the Norton factory began on 24/ 3/ 1954 and was tested by a Mr Armstrong prior to being signed off. This is a genuine UK bike, and was supplied new on 13/ 10/ 1954 (63 years ago to the week as I write this) from Davies of Manchester to a Mr F Folly of North Road.

To date this fabulous machine has only 3 previous owners, which is a new one every 15. 75 years by my calculation. The machine is fitted with its original frame, engine and gearbox, as backed up by the Norton Despatch record, which is supplied with the machine. The registration is its original, and the original green logbook is included, along with the modern V5c. Being 1954 the machine is of course exempt from road tax and MOT.

How does she ride? Absolutely beautifully is the quick answer. Twi kicks from cold, and she is running, gearbox is beautiful and brakes are perfect. The Magneto was recently overhauled, and whilst it has been fitted with modern indicators, they are easy to remove, and our workshop would be happy to do so if you wish.

If you want a usable classic Norton then look no further, your search is over.
