Lot 40
A 1960 Jensen 541R, registration number KUD 68D, car number 4886011, silver, single ownership since 1970. One of just 193 R models thought to have been built over a three year production run, out of a total of 546. The R was reputedly capable of a top speed of 125 mph and featured the Austin 3993cc straight six engine breathing through triple SU carburettors, all round disc brakes, four speed manual transmission with Laycock overdrive and cost a not inconsiderable premium over the standard model (£2, 886 7s 0d vs £2, 153 17s 0d). This example was originally supplied by Charles Follett and comes direct from a deceased estate and is being offered for auction by the family. The Jensen was purchased by the deceased in 1970 and remained his pride and joy until his death earlier this year. Finished in silver with a sumptuous maroon leather interior, with matching grey carpets with maroon edging, the Jensen will now require recommissioning and the usual checkovers, before taking to the road, due to having been in dry store since its last MOT expired in September 2010. On our inspection to take the photographs, the Jensen rolled freely. Unfortunately, the history to the car has been mislaid and the only documents available at the time of cataloguing are the original RF60 and original owner's handbook. The Jensen is registered with DVLA and the new purchaser will be required to apply for a new V5C. RF60, no MOT, tax exempt
