THE CAR
Just arrived at Roman Garages is this lovely Jaguar E-type Roadster. It is a 1972 car with the 5. 3 V12 engine matched with an automatic gearbox. Its a USA LHD car, sent to us by our team in North America. It has a matching hardtop, a black soft top, and chrome wire wheels. Its a very desirable car. All taxes are paid and we are awaiting NOVA clearance so we can get it registered for UK roads.
ENGINE AND GEARBOX
The Series 3 has the 5. 3 litre V12 engine mated to the 3-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is fed by 4 carbs, and is a smooth, very refined unit that transformed the E-type into a real grand tourer. Its starts instantly and pulls strongly through all the gears. With 272 bhp and 304 lb ft of torque the E-type is capable of 146mph and 0-60 in 6. 4 seconds. The gears select seamlessly up and down the box, with a strong kickdown where needed. The car benefits from a new starter motor.
THE EXTERIOR
The E-type is finished in Sable Brown which is a 70s colour and suits the car. There is a hardtop with the car in the same colour, and a black soft-top. The panel gaps, paintwork and bodywork is in good condition and there is no rust. The chrome wire wheels are very good, as is the chrome work around the car.
THE INTERIOR
The interior colour is Tan, and the leather seats are in good condition as the carpets and dash. the gauges and dials all work. The car benefits from power steering and ride, handling and roadholding is excellent. Maybe not as nimble as a Series One E-type, but definitely better on a longer run.
THE HISTORY
The car came to us from a well respected dealer in New Hampshire, and we have not received the documents yet. What we can report is that the car has clearly been well looked after, and the mileage recorded of 68, 453 seems very believable judging by the cars condition and the way it drives.
THE CONCLUSION
Roman Garages is very happy to recommend this car. It is in fine condition, and drives the way it looks. It is currently awaiting UK registration to make it road legal here. We are very happy for overseas enquiries and can help with the whole paperwork process. This roadster will be sold with a new MOT.
