1938 Morris 8HP Series Two Four Seater Tourer.
An older restoration but nevertheless very well presented. We have had a large number of these cars through our hands and this is by far and away the best driving car we have had. It has been impeccably maintained by its caring owner of the last fifteen years – you only need to look under the bonnet to see.
The engine has been very recently rebuilt with new pistons so will need careful running in but is already running very sweetly and performing as it should. It is the quietest running Morris 8 we have encountered.
The red interior is in lovely condition with a full set of carpets and over-mats. The dashboard is beautifully presented with a full complement of working instruments. A noteworthy feature of the car is the lighting with LED bulbs being fitted throughout, giving a very bright light with the advantage of placing very little load on the dynamo - itself an uprated two brush item. There are discreet modern indicators fitted as well as the original semaphores which are in working order and a new battery has been fitted recently.
The double duck hood is generally good order and there is a full set of sidescreens. A useful feature is a neat pvc hood bag which doubles up as a tonneau cover over the rear seats – particularly handy if you are driving without rear seat passengers. There is also a folding luggage rack fitted to the rear and a period case to go with it.
The Morris was originally registered in London and the old buff log book which comes with the car shows it spent a large part of its life here in rural Essex. There is a history file incorporating a photographic record of the restoration along with a V5C, old MoT certificates and a number of handbooks.
This is a lovely example of the 8HP Tourer and is absolutely ready to enjoy this summer.
We would consider taking a classic vehicle in part exchange. For more details or to arrange a viewing contact James on the details below.
