1927 Austin 12/ 4 Windsor - 97 years in one family
One of the most successful cars in the 12hp category, the Austin 12/ 4 was noted for its robust character and reliability.
Today, the Austin 12/ 4 is one of the most regularly seen and most recognised Vintage cars, due in no small part to ‘Gumdrop’ stories for children published by the late Val Biro and the good survival rate - testimony to the longevity of this model.
This 1927 Windsor has a most interesting history, as it has been in the hands of one family since being purchased by the present owner’s grandfather on Christmas Eve 1927. Bearing the North London registration YU 6719, this car is one of the later series ‘5T’ models with wider track and slightly taller radiator.
Carefully preserved and maintained over the years, this charming Vintage Austin, known affectionately as ‘Eve’, she has considerable presence and is sure to attract much interest wherever she goes.
To find a car of this Vintage that has been in the care of just one family since new, must surely be unique. The history is extensive and captures wonderful family moments throughout her life and makes most fascinating reading.
